Ugly Love

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover Title: Ugly Love Author: Colleen Hoover Genre: Romance Published in: 2014 Age suggestion: 18+ Spice-o-meter: 3 out of 5 My rating: 1 out of 5 My thoughts: So this is going to be a controversial one because I know this book is loved on BookTok and in the romance book community (at least by the CoHo fans). If you like this book, please don't be offended, but I hated this one. I almost didn't finish it. I was close to putting it down because I hated it so much. I really wanted to like it because of all the 5 star ratings on TikTok and Instagram, but I was really disappointed in it. I thought the characters were boring. I hated the poetry format used in the Miles chapters. It was ridiculous to me as someone who loves poetry. I literally skimmed through about half of this book and still understood the whole story, so that just shows how much of this was unneeded filler in my opinion. This was just another overhyped BookTok book to me. This book was abo

Inkheart

Inkheart by Cornelia Funke Title: Inkheart Author: Cornelia Funke Genre: Young adult, fantasy Published in: 2003 Age suggestion: Any age Spice-o-meter: Spice free My rating: 4 out of 5 My thoughts: I wanted to read this book because I remember starting it as a kid and never finishing it. I am glad I finally picked it up to reread it! It was a bit slow at the beginning, which is why I rated it a 4 out of 5, but once I got into it more, I was hooked. I finished over half of the book in only three days during my breaks at work. Overall, I'm super happy with this book and I am looking forward to reading the other two books in the trilogy now. This book was about a 12 year old girl named Meggie who was whisked away on a journey following her father being kidnapped. Since she was raised by only her father, a man who repairs old books for a living, she wanted nothing more than to rescue him after he was taken away. She discovered a whole new world that was, literally, only a few printed

Not If I Save You First

Not If I Save You First by Ally Carter Title: Not If I Save You First Author: Ally Carter Genre: Young adult, suspense Published in: 2018 Age suggestion: Young adult and up Spice-o-meter: Spice free My rating: 4 of 5 My thoughts: I rated this book 4 out of 5. I have always had a strong attachment to Ally Carter books, ever since I was in middle school and first read the Gallagher Girls books. I still will pick up an old Ally Carter book of mine and re-read it, or buy one on my Kindle. Her writing style is always fun for me, no matter how old I get. She writes strong female characters and she seems to get into the mind of a teenager well. After finding this thrifted copy, I was so excited to pick up another Ally Carter book that I hadn't read yet. This book was about a girl named Maddie (I'm not going to lie, the name sealed the deal on me buying this book - it was written for me) who was best friend's with the son of the president of the United States because of circumst

My Favorite Places to Buy Books

Hello everyone! Today I got inspired. Recently, I went book shopping again (I made a New Year's goal to stop buying books and just read the massive pile of books I already have... I have failed) and it got me thinking - why don't I write a list of all of my favorite places to buy books? One thing that I really love about books is that they are basically available to buy everywhere you go, however I have a few spots that I specifically love to shop at for books. I'm going to break it up into two categories for the purpose of this post - where I buy new books and where I buy used books.
