My thoughts:
This book was a short, easy read. I actually chose to read this one simply because it was a short one and I’m trying to finish all the books I currently have on my Kindle before buying a bunch more. I finished it while on a 24 hour shift for work. The book itself was good and held my interest. It had some romance, suspense, and was about hit men and had other tropes in it like amnesia and high school sweethearts.

This book is split perspective between Isabel and Tristian. Isabel is a young woman who moved to Rio after her heart was broken by a letter ending her relationship from Tristian, who had joined the U.S. Army. Then he went off the grid for six years and she didn’t hear from or of him until seeing him randomly in Rio. He didn’t know why she knew him and he didn’t know of their past. This book is part one of a series, and I may end up continuing them at some point. It was a good and fast read.

This book may be for you if you like:

  • Romance with plot
  • Hit men trope
  • Amnesia trope
Overall, I would recommend this book as a fast and entertaining read. It definitely was left open-ended to allow for a continuation of the series.

Spice-o-meter: My Spice Rating System

Hello, fellow bookworms! I decided that since I recently posted a review of The Spanish Love Deception (which I rated a 2 of 5 for spice), I should probably make a post about my "spice" ratings, which I have now named my "Spice-o-meter". I want to make it clear that the Spice-o-meter does NOT effect the overall rating of the book! I am okay with no spice and I'm okay with spice, I just know that some people have other preferences for the books they read. Spice-free: Nothing beyond some kisses, hugging, etc. If one of my reviews doesn't have a "spice-o-meter" listed in it, it's safe to assume that it is spice-free. 1 of 5: May include hands, more kissing, "fade to black" scenes. No in-detail spice. Any books that have discussion of spice will be included in this category, even if no spice actually happens. I will write a disclaimer in my review if this is the case, because I know some people prefer books with actual spice. 2 of 5

Powerless

Powerless by Lauren Roberts Title: Powerless Author: Lauren Roberts Genre: Fantasy Published in: 2023 Age suggestion: Young adult and up Spice-o-meter: No spice My rating: 4 out of 5 My thoughts: This book I thought was pretty good. The first half of it, I got major Hunger Games vibes from it and I was a bit nervous about how the story was going to turn out, but it got so good! Don't get me wrong, I like The Hunger Games , I just was nervous that it was going to be too similar of a storyline. There were definitely parts of it that were inspired by them, but the story took a very different turn. I got addicted to this book. It took me a while to get into (I've been reading it off and on again for a month) but I finished over half of it in a couple of days. The end had a lot of action and ended on a cliffhanger. I can't wait for the next books to come out. I am definitely going to be continuing this series as it comes out. In this book, it is split perspective between a g

What About Me

What About Me by Tiara Vazquez This post will contain spoilers! Title: What About Me Author: Tiara Vazquez Genre: Paranormal Romance Published in: 2022 Age suggestion: 18+ Spice-o-meter: 2 out of 5 My rating: 5 out of 5 My thoughts: I really loved this book! It was another Kindle read that I found because I'm in a Facebook reading group with the author and she was promoting her book. I downloaded it on Kindle Unlimited and I absolutely loved it. It isn't my normal read because I normally don't read paranormal stuff, but I wanted to read something from another undiscovered, new author. This one has probably been my favorite undiscovered book I've read. This book had a big plot twist at the end that I honestly didn't expect, and a beautiful ending in my opinion. This book was about a girl named Ivy who believed that a new woman at her fiancé's company (where she also worked) was trying to steal him from her. She had very bad anxiety and a past with infidelity,
