My thoughts:
This book was addicting to me. The way this book was written was absolutely brilliant. I was a bit confused at first but that was the point because the main character woke up confused and disoriented. This was the most intricate and well-planned book I think I've ever read. There were so many layers to this story and everything pieced together beautifully. This book is told in one perspective that is many perspectives at the same time, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense until you're reading it.
A quick summary, without spoiling the book, is that the main character is trapped in a murder mystery and he has eight days to solve the case. The interesting part is that he wakes up every day in a different body of someone who is a guest at the house in which the murder takes place. Another thing to note is that it is just the same exact day eight different times. If he fails to solve the murder, his memory is wiped and he starts over again. Later in the book, you discover he has been in this loop for decades. Each different host body he is in provides different skills, knowledge, or other pieces that are important to solving the puzzle. Who is the killer of Evelyn Hardcastle, and will the main character be able to solve this cold case?
This book may be for you if you like:
- Murder mysteries
- Multiple perspectives (not really but kind of????)
- Period pieces - the exact date isn't clear, but cars were a recent invention
